Fall
2003 Workshop with Argentine
Circus Performers! The Videla Brothers are third-generation circus
performers born under a circus tent. They grew up performing in
"Circo Criollo," the circus of their father and grandfather.
They lived and performed through the decline of the traditional
traveling circus in South America.
My aerial partner Matt Manges and I studied with these amazing
teachers for two months last year in Buenos Aires. They
are living history, and are warm, fatherly people. They
are not "neo-cirque."
What they teach they lived and breathed all their lives. You
feel that deep knowledge and strength when you learn from them.
We are going to try to bring Oscar and Jorge Videla to the Circus
Contraption space in Seattle this fall. We hope to offer a group
workshop and also private lessons in acrobatics, hand-balancing,
and aerial. Perhaps most exciting, we may be able to provide
some limited private lessons in swinging trapeze! If you are
interested in helping to make this happen, call me, Lara, at
206.235.2720 or e-mail info@trapezius.net.
